Additional Information:

  • Total tour time is 2 1/4 hours with one hour spent on the fort.
  • Snack bars are available onboard. (No food is allowed on the fort)
  • Located on the second level of the fort are a small museum and gift shop.
  • Restrooms are available at the departure locations and onboard the tour boats.
  • Please note:  The lift at Fort Sumter is currently closed so access to the restrooms for those with mobility issues and the disabled is limited.  The restrooms on the boat will remain open during your visit to the Fort.  Guests with mobility issues and the disabled will are encouraged to take advantage of the restroom facilities on the boat.
  • Extended stay tickets are available for purchase at either departure location. (Please contact us for full details)

  • The elevator is currently out of order limiting handicap accessibility to the original parade ground level of Fort Sumter.
  • It is recommended that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to any departure time.

Accessibility:

The historic parade ground level of Fort Sumter is accessible, several interpretive wayside exhibits are located throughout this level and a park interpreter is available to provide a history talk and answer questions; however Battery Huger is not accessible.  It is suggested that those with mobility issues and the disabled depart from the Liberty Square dock located in downtown Charleston.  This will ensure that you have access to the restroom facilities during your visit to the fort and on the return trip to the dock.

Battery Huger houses the restrooms, water fountain, museum, museum store, and the observation level; all of these areas are inaccessible.

A museum guide is available upon request, at Fort Sumter, featuring all of the museum text, images, quotes, and pictures of artifacts on display in the Fort Sumter museum and the upper level of Fort Sumter. Accessible restroom on the tour boat will remain open throughout the visit to Fort Sumter for visitors and a fully accessible museum shop is available at Liberty Square. All Fort Sumter National Monument museum store are run by Eastern National.
